CHATTIPHADSHAHI GURDUWARA

About Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara Located in Srinagar’s Hari Parbat, the Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara is often visited by tourists. It is placed outside southern gate of HariParbat Fort which was built by an Afghan governor centuries ago. This Gurudwara is also very popular due to its connection to the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind and his Mai Bhagbhari, his devotee. It is in fact the most important Gurudwara in the entire Kashmir valley. It is said that, it was this spot where Guru Hargobind stopped to preach the religion occasionally when he visited this part of Kashmir. Everyone can attend prayers in the Gurudwara and it is now a large building with a sacred sanctum in the middle of a rectangular hall. There is a roomy terrace facing the all. It is believed that a well neat the shrine was built on the Guru’s orders. Like many Gurudwaras in the country, the administration Chatti Padshahi also offers accommodation facilities. Every day a langar is also offered.

Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara in Srinagar is an important religious centre for Sikhs.It is situated outside the Har Parbat Fort’s southern gate and forms an important part of the religious tourism in the city. The legend of this gurudwara associates it with Guru Hargobind – the sixth Sikh Guru and his ardent devotee Mai Bhagbhari. It is said that she yearned for long to get a glimpse of the Guru, who finally visited her. During the visit, he preached the virtues of Sikhism.

The gurudwara has a sacred sanctum in the centre of its rectangular hall. A spacious terrace is present in front of the hall, where devotees gather every day. There is an old well near the shrine, which was supposedly built on the orders of the guru. In recent times, a larger building was constructed for the gurudwara. Visitors can stay here as the shrine’s administering community offers proper facilities for accommodation. A langar (free communal kitchen) is organised every day in the gurudwara, which can be attended by anyone.

The gurudwara is admired by devotees of all faiths and religions. The Sangat and District Gurudwara Committee runs its management. A free dispensary is operated by the Guru Nanak Mission Hospital to facilitate the devotees. Apart from this, devotees are provided with Gurmat classes with emphasis on Sikh history and culture. People flock to the gurudwara to attend Kirtan classes and Langar. There is a good library inside the gurudwara with books/granthas on religious/spiritual topics. Chhatti Padshahi Gurudwara witnesses heavy crowds in January during the annual event of Gurmat Samagam.

KALGIDHAR GURUDWARA, REHARI

The Gurudwara is located at Rehari Chowk just 2 Kms from Jammu bus stand on the National Highway.

This is one of the biggest Gurdwaras in Jammu and is located in Nanak Nagar locality of the City.

SHRI GURU NANAK DEVJI, CHAND NAGAR

This Gurudwara is situated in the heart of the city at Chand Nagar near Jewel Chowk. Heavy rush of devotees is witnessed here on Gurupurabs.

SH.GURU NANAK DEVJI MUBARAK MANDI

Panchyati Gurudwara is situtated in upper bazar near Mubarak Mandi complex. It is venerated by both Sikhs and Hindus.

SANT ROCHA SINGH ASHRAM

This Gurudwara is situated on the national highway at Digana.Also known as Digana Ashram The Gurudwara has a very beautiful building.

GURDWARA SRI SHADIMARG SAHIB

Gurdwara Sri Shadimarg Sahib is situated near  village Shadimarg in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

In 1616, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived here from Goindwal, Wazirbad and Hamirpur during a tour of Kashmir. Guru Hargobind sat under a Chinaar tree which still exists at the Gurdwara. The Sangat arrived to seek Guru Sahib’s blessings and darshan.
